Catalyst’s Epic Fail

Catalyst’s Epic Fail

Catalyst’s Epic Fail.

Am I the only one?

Who didn’t get it, who felt disappointed, who saw a Christian carnival, who felt hoodwinked into believing I could “be present” with 15,000 leaders of the Church?

Am I the only one?

Who saw the contradiction in the clever messaging? Who was asked by Tom Collins to unplug from social media for 1-2 days every 2 weeks, but asked by the conference to Tweet this, Like that, text blah, blah, blah, to donate $10.  Who was hypnotized by the mega screen Twitter page which said things like, I’m tweeting because I just want to be on the big screen”.

Am I the only one?

Who heard “do for one what you wish you could do for everyone”, but found the charity commercials like, TOMS, Compassion International, and overseas adoption via Tony Dungy a bit overwhelming.

Am I the only one?

Who couldn’t be present with anyone because there were so many of you?

Am I the only one?

Who saw the giant Rob Bell chip on the shoulders of the conference speakers?

Am I the only one?

Who felt women were consistently being treated as second-class leaders all for the sake of humor?  Who felt slighted when the only female speaker was the last to speak?  Who realized too late that the mission of Catalyst was more for men and less for women who are called to lead.

Am I the only one?

Who thought I would learn more about how to lead than what a next generation leader should look and sound like?

Am I the only one?

Who was herded through a book signing line?  Who never wanted an author’s signature but only wanted to pour into one what I wished I could do for everyone?  Who never got to offer my name or got to look the inspirational author in the eyes because “there wasn’t enough time?”

Am I the only one?
