Women Stand Up! is a faith based non-profit organization whose powerful and purpose driven mission is to see the hearts and minds of hurting women restored and repurposed.

Christine Leahy, the founder and CEO of Women Stand Up!, has a heart for serving the kinds of women many church’s and women’s ministries aren’t reaching – the hurting, abused, depressed and brokenhearted. Modern day misfits just like her.

It takes an Army…  Christine served our nation as a paralegal in the JAG Corp as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army until recently when she left the Army to do full time ministry. Can you think of the last church speaker you had who’s low crawled under barbed wire while under live fire and thrown live hand grenades? Don’t worry, it’s not part of her event! For the last several years though, Christine has been just as busy under the lights on stage as she was on the firing range. For 2 years she was the main narrator in the Army’s multi-million dollar production “Spirit of America” celebrating America’s rich military heritage. She traveled across the country with a cast of hundreds of her fellow soldiers from “The Old Guard” performing in public arenas before standing room only crowds of 10-15,000. Christine was selected to perform before 4,000 of the Army’s leaders at the Annual Conference of the Association of the United States Army, which was televised on C-SPAN (AUSA on C-SPAN). The audience included Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Navy Admiral Mike Mullen, Army Chief of Staff General George Casey, and Afghanistan Commander General David Petraeus. Christine was the Master of Ceremonies at the 235th Army Birthday Ball attended by 2,700 Army leaders, defense contractors and guests and was televised globally on the Pentagon’s cable network. Talk about pressure under fire. Closer to home, Christine started an all female soldier bible study for the women serving their country from her post. Prior to serving in her present capacity as a paralegal in the Army, Christine spent 10 years in various positions in judicial affairs and residence life at a number of colleges and universities. Before that, she attended Central Michigan University and Illinois State University where she earned a bachelors degree in Psychology, a masters degree in Higher Education Administration, and completed a year and a half of studies towards her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In her spare time, Christine stays involved in her husbands ministry, BraveHearts, traveling and sharing the stage with him to offer a woman’s perspective on issues like pornography, body image issues, and the sexualization of the culture. They currently live in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Wounded Women Warriors Project is for women who are serving and have served in the military and for the wives of Servicemen who have both physical and emotional wounds.  This project is set to launch Fall 2012.  W6 is the abbreviation for Warrior 6, a call sign and a reference to Christine's experience in the military. From 2008 until 2011, Christine was a Soldier of the 4th Battalion, 3d US Infantry Regiment known as 'Warriors'. The term 'Warriors' is the unit's special and unique designation. While individual Soldiers would be identified by their unit's nickname, officers in charge of troops used call signs like Warrior 6 to ensure any orders given over the radio could be confirmed by the sender's call sign. At Women Stand Up!, our unique designation is being women warriors who believe in a God who commands that His daughters follow His way. When God sends us on a mission, rest assured you will hear W6 say, Women Stand Up!

Women Stand Up! has partnered with BraveHearts, Inc in a campaign called I Am Enough. Christine Leahy and Michael Leahy mentor and meet with women from all over the country. These women exhibit one consistent pattern. Women don’t believe they are enough. Typically, this untruth has rooted itself in the hearts and minds of women dating back to when they were young girls. Women Stand Up! is committed to sharing the truth that you are enough regardless of what anyone says or does to you. Please help Women Stand Up! with the I Am Enough campaign so we can continue to mentor and encourage women who have been abandoned and abused. All support given will be used to mentor women, provide legal support, and job opportunities for women who are in need.

About Scriptures

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About God

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life

We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About the Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.
