Meet Christine

Christine Leahy, the founder and CEO of Women Stand Up!, has a heart for serving the kinds of women many church’s and women’s ministries aren’t reaching – the hurting and abused and depressed and brokenhearted. Modern day misfits just like her.
Christine Leahy presents a bold and creative approach to addressing women’s issues that are seldom presented in the church. Her speaking style can only be defined as transparent. Christine relies on her personal experiences to address the path to spiritual restoration. Using her passion for personal truth, she has led women out of the darkest corners of their life to an understanding of personal acceptance and forgiveness. At 8 years old, Christine felt she’d been given numerous blessings but felt a burden for those who were suffering. She made a bold request of God. The agreement signed across her heart was that all the pain that God allowed others to feel would instead be given to her.
Join Christine on her incredible 25 year journey of experiencing forgiveness and personal acceptance in the midst of surviving abandonment, abuse, depression, anxiety, relational shipwrecks, and more. You’ll be amazed at how well Christine relates to YOUR story, because she has already lived it! Christine speaks boldly and authentically about topics that are rarely talked about in church. It’s her hope that other women will be inspired to Stand Up! and reclaim their identity in Christ!

For the last several years though, Christine has been just as busy under the lights on stage as she’s been on the firing range. She’s been selected as the main narrator in the Army’s multi-million dollar production “Spirit of America” celebrating America’s rich military heritage. She traveled across the country with a cast of hundreds of her fellow soldiers from “The Old Guard” performing in public arenas before standing room only crowds of 10-15,000.
Christine was selected two years running to perform before 4,000 of the Army’s leaders at the Annual Conference of the Association of the United States Army, which was televised on C-SPAN (AUSA on C-SPAN). The audience included Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Navy Admiral Mike Mullen, Army Chief of Staff General George Casey, and Afghanistan Commander General David Petraeus. Christine was the Master of Ceremonies at the 235th Army Birthday Ball attended by 2,700 Army leaders, defense contractors and guests and was televised globally on the Pentagon’s cable network. Talk about pressure under fire.
While serving, Christine started an all female soldier bible study for the women serving their country from her post at Ft. Myer, VA. Prior to serving as a paralegal in the Army, Christine spent 10 years in various positions in judicial affairs and residence life at a number of colleges and universities. Before that, she attended Central Michigan University and Illinois State University where she earned a bachelors degree in Psychology, a masters degree in Higher Education Administration, and completed a year and a half of studies towards her doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
In her spare time, Christine stays involved in her husbands ministry, BraveHearts, traveling and sharing the stage with him to offer a woman’s perspective on issues like pornography, body image issues, and the sexualization of the culture. They currently live in Atlanta, Georgia.
What People Are Saying…
Erica Jefferson
This ministry has been such a blessing in my life. Christine is gifted in addressing areas that many women and ministries are afraid to talk about. I had the privilege of partnering with Women Stand Up! for a women’s empowerment event. I am so grateful that I did because the message that she shared encouraged those in attendance to break away from the pains of their past and walk in freedom towards their future. The Women Stand Up! talk is very intriguing. You have no choice but to sit in silence at times just to take in the magnitude of what Christine has to share. I would recommend to any woman or group of women to not hesitate to bring Women Stand Up! to your area. It is a life changing ministry and one that has truly impacted me.
